#NYFW It’s in the Bag: Sang A

By  February 13, 2011

Known for her luxe handbags in exquisite and exotic skins, Sang A Im-Propp presented a collection of stunning carryalls Saturday evening, many of which could be converted into multiple different silhouettes. We chatted with the designer as she spilled the contents of her own bag.

What was the thought behind the collection?
For this collection I reminisced on my highschool and college years. I thought about the bags that I loved growing up with. I have so many sentimental stories and memories associated with each bag.

And you’re bringing the backpack back!
Yes! I love it. It’s very versatile. There are actually four different ways to wear it.

If only everything we owned turned into four different things.
Exactly! I mean, women deserve it. I really try to make things that are worth your while. Once you have the bag you can wear it everyday for any kind of wardrobe.

What was your very first backpack?
I still have it in my closet. I was in New Zealand and I bought it from a street vendor. It’s the cutest backpack I’ve ever owned.

What was your bag style in high school and college?
I grew up dancing and performing, so I had so much in my bag. Basically, I carried around my life. I literally had underwear in there. I had to take a showers all the time because I had so many dance classes!
