#NYFW Libertine Fall 2011

Bright and fresh, there was certainly no shortage of color at Libertine. Saturated red, teal and purple hues dominated, serving as the perfect jolt of energy at 10am for those still in a Saturday morning daze. Patterned tights and funky brooches gave the printed plaid frocks and sequin crop jackets an extra dose of whimsy. Fellow designers showed support by stepping out for the occasion, namely Thom Browne and Kate Mulleavy of Rodarte. We caught up with Libertine designer Johnson Hartig backstage after the show. “I’m having a real hippy moment,” he declared. “I’m feeling the love today.” Hartig noted that he was particularly inspired by his personal travels. “I went to Istanbul in October and it was life-changing. I think I must have been an Islamic mogul in a past life. I’ve never felt never more at home.” And how does he celebrate? “A hot bath and a nap. And champagne.”
