#NYFW Prabal Gurung Fall 2011

Prabal Gurung’s Fall 2011 show opened with the beautifully haunting sound of Florence and the Machine, and we had goose bumps before the first look hit the runway. Addicted to Love blared as Karlie Kloss stormed the runway in a bright crimson number, setting the tone for the rest of the collection, which was heavy on glamour, richly feminine color and delicate details. Joan Smalls looked especially ravishing in a silk fuchsia dress with a leather bow embellishment. Inspired by Miss Havisham, each model sported tousled bedhead hair, looking as if they have been locked away in a mansion for decades. Gurung’s Dickens reference is certainly appropriate, as many have great expectations when it comes to the young designer, and this season he didn’t disappoint.
