#NYFW SS/12: Gorgeous Gone Ghastly at Kimberly Ovitz
By India-Jewel Jackson
September 08, 2011
Showing a muted palette of milks, creams, beiges, and nudes, this season Kimberly Ovitz departed from her usual dark and ominous tones after being deeply inspired by the recent disasters our planet has endured. With that said, the Ovitz glam squad thought it best to keep the hair and makeup equally as simple. “We wanted the girls to look not too done or glam, but tough and understated and cool,” says Kristin Gallegos, lead makeup artist for MAC Cosmetics. “It’s a clean face with a bit of lip balm and concealer; we added depth to the face by brushing Saddle Eyeshadow ($15) into the sockets of the eyes, and contouring the cheeks with Satin Taupe Eyeshadow ($15) to add gauntness to the face.” And in case you were wondering, last season’s bleached brows runway trend is set to rage on… But here’s the twist: Instead of actually bleaching the brows a la Pat McGrath, Gallegos used a bent brow brush to work light concealer through the brows to give a blanched illusion. Genius.
