#NYFW Vera Wang Fall 2011

In the 1930s, the English aristocracy found itself fascinated by iconic American women and for Fall 2011, Vera Wang was inspired by that phenomenon. Viscountess Thelma Furness, Lady Emerald Cunard, and The Duchess of Windsor Wallis Simpson and their classic American spirit and British sensibility informed Wang’s aesthetic. Free of constraints, oversized long-sleeve sweaters, coats, blazers and tiered dresses had a relaxed and liberated feel.  French accordion pleats and layered pleats made a subtle yet glamorous statement. A dramatic mood prevailed with a dark scene, muted colors and ominous music; it was divine!
