Our Quick Chat with Leighton Meester

By now you’ve heard that Leighton Meester is the newest global ambassador for Herbal Essences. Seeing as how on- and off-screen, her locks never look less than lush, we completely understand why she scored the gig. Recently we had a 1-on-1 chit-chat with Gossip Girl‘s resident Queen B. Surprisingly in real-life, Meester happens to be super laid back with her hair care regimen, and couldn’t be more different from her Type-A character Blair Waldorf. No perfect curls and headbands for this hottie!

Clearly you’re well-versed in the Herbal Essences range. What are your absolute favorites?
I love Long Term Relationship, Hello Hydration, Tousle Me Softly Hair Spray, and Long Term Relationship Split End Protector Cream. My hair has only improved for the better because of Herbal Essences. The reformulation is amazing, and so is the scent.

You always look so gorgeous. How do you prepare for your red carpet appearances?
I have a glam squad—they’re artists and they understand my vision and really help guide me. I’m not an expert, I just know what I like. They know I don’t want to sit in the chair for hours on end. I like an undone, easy look. But, I like to experiment and try different things and change my look, so I think it’s a perfect fit.

Have any go-to hairstyles? Off-camera and on the red carpet?
I’m very low maintenance when it comes to my hair. I love how my hair is naturally and I’ve learned to love and embrace my natural texture. Off-duty style is as is—I love my hair as is. I just wash, condition, and go usually. I love it because it’s an easy beauty regimen for me. But on the red carpet is more interesting and fun. I like it when it’s not too perfect, not too done, not too much product.
