THE PARTY: Bloomingdale’s 59th Street Launches The Collective

THE PLACE: Bloomingdale’s 59th Street, NYC

THE DEETS: As if Bloomie’s wasn’t already the coolest place to be, Thursday evening’s launch party certainly confirmed it. To kick off the launch of Bloomingdale’s newest department, dubbed The Collective, all of the designers featured gathered to be a part of the fun. Bloomie’s Fashion Director for Women’s Ready-to-Wear, Brooke Jaffe, led a presentation that allowed each of the designers to weigh in on their favorite spring looks, as well as stories about their dedication to fashion. Designs by Amanda Uprichard, Cynthia Rowley, Cynthia Vincent, Derek Farrar, Mara Hoffmann, Michelle Smith, Nanette Lepore, Rebecca Minkoff, Rebecca Taylor, Ronny Kobo, Trina Turk and Yigal Azrouel will all be featured in the new department. The evening featured a slew of past hors d’oeuvres, a photobooth and music from beauty buff and DJ Hannah Bronfman.

According to Jaffe, The Collective is “kind of this amazing mixture of old-guard, really established amazing designers, but it’s also the new up-and-comers. So we’ve internally been calling it ‘The Collective.’ The idea was to get this collective of all of this talent because Bloomie’s is the destination for the old and the new, and this little shop is a representation of what we’re about as a brand. It’s very feminine and also girly. I would say that this department is a destination for that fashion-forward feminine girl.”

Upon perusing the area, we were struck by the bold prints and bright colors that filled the racks. The stunning spring clothes that these designers put forth this season certainly gave Bloomingdale’s the perfect opportunity to do something unique. Going forward, The Collective is sure to inspire Bloomie’s girls to take their wardrobes to the next level. “I feel like there is absolutely nothing cookie-cutter or basic going on in this department. It’s pure fashion.” Amen to that.
