THE PARTY: Vintage Vanguard, to benefit Dress for Success

THE PLACE: The Jane Ballroom

THE DEETS: Clad in vintage confections by Atelier Swarovski, British model Karen Elson and longtime friend Liz Goldwyn hosted the Vintage Vanguard event at The Jane on January 13. Along with Vogue’s Tonne Goodman and Dress for Success CEO Joi Gordon, the vintage-collecting duo welcomed guests to the silent auction whose proceeds will benefit Dress for Success. The pair recruited their designer friends – Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez, Anna SuiOlivier TheyskensTory Burch, Jason Wu, and Eddie Borgo, to name a few – to rework pieces from their own personal collections.

As guests sipped drinks, Elson herself took to the stage for a performance before letting DJ Tennessee Thomas take the music reins. Karlie Kloss, Lauren Santo Domingo, Derek Blasberg, and Natalie Joos were also in attendance. For Elson and Goldwyn, it was important that their passions for vintage clothing served a good purpose. “Vintage Vanguard is a project that evolved from my and Liz’s passion for vintage clothing and a desire to incorporate our [favorite] fashion designers to customize and re-work our archives for a good cause,” said Elson. “Dress for Success is a perfect partner and their message is inspiring.”

Though the epic Zac Posen black ball gown has already been spoken for, there are still a few pretty pieces for sale on Moda Operandi through January 20th. If we were to bid, we’d probably go for the Suno embroidered mustard-yellow mini or the red Libertine dress with crystal embellishments. Certainly, if you’re a vintage-with-a-twist kind of girl, these frocks are sure to find a comfortable home in your closet – after all, it’s hard to say no to one-of-a-kind vintage, isn’t it?
