THE PARTY: theBalm got a boutique. Would you expect beauty babes to not party over that?

THE PLACE: Having been born and raised in San Francisco, theBalm decided to keep their first brick and mortar close to home. The glossy shop is located in the colorful Mission District on Valencia Street.

THE DEETS: Though theBalm’s line of makeup, skin and haircare, and nail polish has been available on their personal website, at Nordstrom, Sephora, and Birchbox.com for years, founder Marissa Shipman knew it was time to give women the real retail-therapy experience in a feel-good space they could come explore in. The beautiful flagship shop does just that. At the store’s launch, guests fell in love all over again with the brand that launched ten years ago–the quirky, clever packaging, knowledgable staff, and high-quality, paraben and cruelty free products reminding them why theBalm has gained much of their notoriety through word of mouth.

Highlights of the night included an eyebrow makeover from in-house wax expert, Monique McDonald, whose precision and attention to every individual’s set of brows proved that getting them done by a professional can make a world of difference. After their brow wax, ladies headed over to the “Quiet on the Set” section of the store, where theBalm’s artists provided complementary makeup tutorials, recorded with a mini iPad. The set-up is the first of its kind to be used in-store–and it’s beyond brilliant. Guests will receive their filmed tutorial in their account on Thebalm.com, allowing them to recreate the look they received in their step-by-step lesson whenever they want.

EDITOR PICKS:
The Eyeshadow Bar
theBalm is already known for their gorgeous stay-put powders, and now their in-store Eyeshadow Bar makes the process of picking your palette even more exciting. Create a customized collection by first choosing from 10 fun and flirty palette covers with either 9 or 16 shadows. Then play with the displayed colors and arrange your own set of shades.

Vanilla Oil-Absorbing Face Moisturizer
This soft cream hydrated our skin while helping to control shine throughout the day.

timeBalm Anti-Wrinkle Concealer, in combination with Sexy Mama anti-shine, translucent powder
Imperfections and dark circles instantly disappeared with this full coverage, but natural looking concealer. The light but effective Sexy Mama powder over the top picked up oils and gave our skin a matte finish.

INSTAIN
We fell in love with this blush in Swiss Dot, which brightened our apples with peachy pink perfection. The powder goes on as a stain so you only need a light swipe of it for an all day stay.
