Past and Present Coachella Artists Hit the Studio

2011 headliners, The Strokes and this year’s Coachella performer, Lana del Ray, are each hitting the recording studio. “Comedown Machine,” the name of the Strokes’s upcoming album, is due out March 26th (we wonder if Kirsten Wiig sat in, lovey eyed, on any recording sessions). If the compilation’s title song, “One Way Track,” available for streaming here, has any indication of what the rest of the album will sound like, then we’ll be anticipating 80-esque melodies, energetic guitar solos, and, per usual, Julian Casablancas’s seemingly discorded, yet luring vocals and provocative lyrics. As for Lana Del Ray, perhaps we’ll get a sneak peek of her new work at Coachella this year. The 26 year old sultry startlett seems to have taken residence in a Los Angeles studio to begin working on her second album. While “Born to Die” and her EP “Paradise,” were more than your average success, we’d like to see what else the girl’s got. Perhaps she’ll take on a more upbeat persona for round two? We can only wait and see, but until then, get on your festival fashion and check out Lana at Coachella 2013. And don’t forget to catch her on French Montana’s debut album, Excuse My French, due out April 16th.
