Big news for fans of Scottish fashion designer, Christopher Kane. Last we heard, he’d parted ways with Versace’s younger line, Versus, to focus on his signature brand and had also collaborated with J. Brand and Topshop on some awesome and edgy pieces. There was speculation that he may take over Nicholas Ghesquière‘s former position at Balenciaga, but that rumor was quickly put to rest. Today, the luxury brand company, PPR, announced that they have signed an agreement with the designer by which they will acquire 51% of the his brand in order to help build and expand the Christopher Kane name. They also plan on opening Kane’s first freestanding boutique together. PPR’s other clients include Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Balenciaga.
We’re excited to see where this takes the designer as he continues to set trends and fashion. Remember his galaxy collection a couple of years ago? The line boasted the Christopher Kane’s space dresses worn by celebrities like Anne Hathaway and Alexa Chung and was extremely well received. This season’s looks are just as good, featuring graphic patterns, bold florals and bright colors. Aligned with the trends of the season, his Spring 2013 runway show channeled the 60s with flower power embellishment and got whimsical with glistening structured cocktail dresses. As long as Kane keeps up the good work, we’re all for the partnership.
