There’s nothing quite as fun as preparing for music festival season. Appropriately, during the depressingly cold months of winter, Coachella organizers send out the (much anticipated) lineup, and festival goers begin to plan their way to the desert. While last year was my first trip to the Coachella Valley, I know it certainly won’t be my last.
This year, I decided to get a jump start on my fashion choices, and went shopping at AG in Soho for a fresh new outfit to take me through my music filled days. Though I could have easily spent hours in the store trying on pair after pair of jeans, I quickly decided on The Legging Ankle – Zig Zag White pair from the Cher Coulter stylist series. I love these jeans because they are the lightest pair of denim I think I’ve ever touched. While it can get ridiculously hot in the desert during the day, it gets just as cold at night, so it’s really important to layer. I learned that the hard way last time.
To dress up my white jeans, I added The Heather Vest on top—and let me tell you something. This vest is so soft I literally want to live in it from now until the end of summer. It has that perfectly worn in but oh, so fresh feel that that makes you want to style a million outfits around it. Seeing as it’s next to impossible for me to walk out of a store with just two items, I clearly also scooped up two pieces with a few of my favorite trends: lace, peplum, and studded details. The Legging Ankle – 17 Years Western Studded has these adorable little accents on the pockets, while The Scarlett top brings together a slight touch of peplum in a lace style that just screams music festival.
Now, I’m sure you’ve seen a million photos from Coachella featuring people with flower crowns, feather headdresses and the such. But when it comes to accessories, I like to keep it somewhat simple. A few rings on my fingers, a pair of floral sunglasses, and I’m good to go.
Also, as I’m sure you noticed, my jeans are cuffed at the ankles. Seeing as I’m vertically challenged, (read 5’1″) I used to regularly have my jeans hemmed, but I’m on this new kick of cuffing them instead. That way it’s easy to accomodate shoes of different varieties. Wearing a heel with an ankle strap (like I am in these photos)? Cuff higher! Wearing a chic flat to emulate a Parisian style? Cuff lower! The magic of self cuffing.
Chic. Sophisticated. Classic.
