Shania Twain and her husband, producer Robert “Mutt” Lange, have split.
“Shania Twain and her husband, music producer Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange, are separating after 14 years of marriage,” spokesman Jason Owen says in a statement. “This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time.”
Twain, 42, and Lange, 59, married in 1993, just six months after meeting. They are parents to a 6-year-old son, Eja D’Angelo.
In early 2000, press reports surfaced that their then seven-year marriage was in trouble, but the couple remained together. Around the same time, Twain all but disappeared from public life, retreating to Tour-de-Peilz, Switzerland. “I needed a break, physically and mentally,” she explained of her move. “I needed to leave behind the whole ‘Shania’ thing and be myself.”
In the December 2007 issue of Redbook, Twain told the magazine: “I struggled a lot internally with my fame, and coping with it has been very difficult.”
Dear Shania… not to change the subject, but please produce more music, kk thanks.

Meet Crystal, a sobbing 16-year-old sitting in her bedroom and, staring into a camera, she says she has been raped. As if that isn’t sad enough, the legal system won’t be prosecuting her attacker.
In the video uploaded on YouTube, Crystal says,
“Hi, my name is Crystal. … I need some help. I didn’t want to do it this way, but it’s the only way I know that’s going to work, that someone out there in the world is gonna listen to me.”
The teen, whom CNN interviewed but is not identifying by her last name, is among dozens of young people who are turning to social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace to talk about sexual assault.
For an online generation, the Web offers what traditional counseling does not. It’s a chance to communicate without having to face someone or fear their judgment. Some people are seeking legal advice and medical information, and many younger victims believe that they can warn others about their accused attacker, counselors say.
There also are people like Crystal, whose case was dropped by the Orange County, Florida, state attorney’s office, who feel slighted by the justice system.
“Young victims, particularly girls, turn inward. They are going to reach out and try to connect in the isolation of their dorm room or their bedrooms,” said Jennifer Dritt, the director of the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence. “Most young women feel like they want somebody to know that someone did this to them.”
Fewer than 5 percent of reported cases in Florida make it to a prosecutor’s office, Dritt said. Whether because of lack of forensic evidence or because many are he said/she said accounts, rape cases can be very difficult to try.
“What you hear from every rape crisis center from Pensacola to Key West is that there are hardly ever any prosecutions,” she said. “Most sexual violence is acquaintance rape, and unfortunately, a lot of juries still think that if a victim had a relationship with their attacker, then they cannot be raped by that person.”
Florida law states that a 15-year-old cannot give consent to sex. And though Crystal was 15 at the time of the alleged forced encounter, the prosecutor wrote that the case would not be prosecuted because Crystal was “a mere 1 month away” from turning 16, when it would be “legal to give consent,” according to documents.
A spokeswoman for the Orange County state attorney’s office declined to comment further.
See the part bolded above? As long as someone has at least met you once before, it’s ok for them to rape you — feel safer now? I’m thoroughly outraged and disgusted!

Aaron Carter is allegedly the latest star planning to check into the next edition of VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab.”
Carter is said to be joining former Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss and rocker Sebastian Bach, the former front-man for the ’80s heavy metal band, Skid Row.
Carter was busted last February during a traffic stop in Texas when cops found two ounces of pot in the car he was driving.
Former NBAer Dennis Rodman has also been approached about appearing on the show, but has yet to commit, according to production sources.
VH1 officials declined to confirm casting on the show, which is slated to begin filming in early June.
On the show, celebrities check into a Pasadena drug and alcohol rehab center where Dr. Drew Pinsky (”Loveline”) tries to help them tame their substance abuse problems.
Last season offered a warts-and-all look at several troubled stars, including Brigitte Nielsen, Daniel Baldwin and even filmed “Taxi” star Jeff Conaway suffering through detox.

Britney Spears and Mel Gibson have packed their bags for a vacation together in Costa Rica. With all the pregnancy rumors swirling around Britney, I can’t help but wonder.
Britney arrived on time, about 5 minutes after Mel, and the plane departed at 9:05 a.m.
We spotted them leaving on a private plane to the Central American state early this morning. Sources tell us that Mel is taking Britney and her father JAMIE for a mini-vacation. We’ve learned they will be guests at Mel’s home in Costa Rica.
According to the terms of her custody Britney’s children cannot leave the country without special approval. There is no confirmation as to whether she sought approval and we’re told they are not joining her on the trip.
While the pop star and the actor may appear to be an unlikely duo, they used to live in the same Malibu community and were spotted having dinner together at Studio City’s Romanov restaurant in March.
