Can My Rusty Dishwasher Be Saved? by AppliancePartsPro.com
A rusty dishwasher is something that should not be ignored. If left untreated rust can damage the appliance and create significant repair problems. However, it is an easy problem to treat if you don't wait too long to start the repair job.
The first thing that you need to do is to clean the rust off of the appliance. Oxalic acid and water work well together to remove rust stains. When you work with oxalic acid it is important that you where latex gloves and follow all common sense safety precautions. Oxalic acid is an easy cleaning solution to find and can be purchased at your local hardware store.
After the rust is removed, it is important to fix the area where the rust had gathered. Most likely you will find a scratch or chip in the area where the rust had been. You can use a patching compound on the area that needs to be repaired. It is important that you use the correct patching compound for the surface that you are fixing. Enamel patching is good for the ceiling or tub area and rubber or vinyl is good for any glass areas.
Patching compounds are easy to find and apply yourself. Prior to applying the compound you need to clean the area thoroughly. Then apply the compound according to the manufacturer's directions. Usually two coats will be needed for a good bond to occur. It is important to let the compound dry completely between the two coats. It also needs to dry completely after the last coat before you run the dishwasher again.
You can find the part anywhere where appliance parts are typically sold. It can be used on any dishwasher containing any manufacturer's parts, including quality parts like Whirlpool parts, Kenmore parts, and Maytag parts.
Fixing a rust spot in a dishwasher is an important task that should not be neglected. If it is neglected then you risk having a larger appliance repair job to do in the future. So, it is worth investing just a few dollars when you first notice the rust marks and fixing your dishwasher before more serious problems occur.

Constant chores and commitments around the clock, chauffeuring around town, working at the office/home office, cooking, housekeeping, laundry, volunteering at your children's school, parenting, and much more drain modern mom's energy to very low levels. This is why very often, moms feel fatigue, but somehow, we manage to get that necessary energy to meet all of those demands. Moms Buzz has interviewed some moms on how they re-energize to measure up to the daily demands of their busy lives. Here are some tips they shared with us including our very own.
Tips on Re-Energizing During a Demanding Day
- Take a deep breath and come to terms with your busy agenda - every morning.
- Exercise or do sports, either yoga or any other aerobic exercise to boost your energy level.
- Take a break in the middle of the day and meet with a friend for coffee.
- On-the-go meditation to keep your mind and feeling serene. A favorite affirmation can do the trick.
- Take a very refreshing drink such a vitamin water, iced tea, a classic coke, etc.
- Indulge in a really sweet piece of cake or dessert!
- A manicure and if time permits, a pedicure too, and if time permits even more, a neck massage.
- Get together with a friend(s) for lunch.
- Have an energy bar.
And, whenever you can,
- Take a 30-minute nap.
- Get a full body massage.
- Get a facial.
- A nice drink in the evening like a glass of wine to relax.
Keeping up with our demanding agendas requires that our energy level be always high. Somehow, as we mentioned above, we are able to get energy from nowhere to meet those demands. If you have other tips on how to re-energize during the day, please share them in the comments section. We all want to learn more tricks of the trade!!

Grilling Etiquette
When invited to a Barbecue:
- DO feek OK bringing your own sauce. 49% of grillers say it is acceptable.
- DO expect themeat to be provided by the host, but pull your weight by brining your own sides and beverages. Go the extra mile and bring enough to share with others.
- DON'T touch the grill! 61% of people say that only the host/hostess shold "man" the grill. As a guest you can look, but don't touch.
As the host of a barbecue:
- DO have all grilled food ready at relatively the same time.
- DO offer grilled vegetarian options.
- DON'T feel obligated to invite your neighbors.
In general, when grilling with others:
- DO start eating your food if your meat is finished before everyone else's.
- DO stake your claim at a community grill by laying out your grilling utensils or meat.
- DO be considerate of others. It is only appropriate to flip your own meat and the meat of others when manning a grill.
