Pat McGrath is already makeup royalty in our books, but Queen Elizabeth II made it official at the start of 2014!
The maquillage maestro joined Céline’s Phoebe Philo as part of the queen’s New Year Honors List where McGrath received an MBE, or Member of the Order of the British Empire, for her services in the fashion and beauty industry. Philo received an OBE, Officer of the Order of the British Empire for her service to fashion at the helm of the luxe brand and Chloé prior to that.
It caps off an incredible year for the prolific makeup artist who found herself on the cover of WWD’s Beauty Inc. with rumors of her her own eponymous line that didn’t come to fruition. On top of her duties for Max Factor, CoverGirl, and Dolce & Gabbana the Makeup, she also created some of the most fantastical beauty looks that hit the European runways in 2013.
Though her honor doesn’t grant her a “dame” or “knight” title, we’re sure she’s excited to have her medal on display.
