For the fourth year, Tracee Ellis Ross and Regina King are back on BET to celebrate the power of black women.
Black Girls Rock, which was founded by Beverly Bond, and the awards special pay homage to renowned black women who have broken new ground in their industries and continue to serve as positive role models for young black women.
This year, honors go to Patti Labelle, with the Living Legend Award; Queen Latifah, who will receive the Rock Star Award; Being Mary Jane writer and producer Mara Brock Akil; tennis star and active-wear designer Venus Williams will take home the Star Power Award; violence interrupter and community organizer Ameena Matthews will receive the Community Activist Award; Misty Copeland, the first black female American Ballet Theatre soloist in three decades, will get the Young, Gifted, and Black Award; and children’s rights activist and Children’s Defense Fund founder Marian Wright Edelman will receive the Social Humanitarian Award.
Along with the awards, the special will be packed with star power and performances from the industry’s freshest up-and-comers, making for an evening of celebration and inspiration for all.
Tune in to Black Girls Rock on November 3 at 7 p.m./6 p.m. C on BET.
