Wednesday evening marked Rachel Zoe’s first appearance since confirming her pregnancy on Monday. The stylist-turned-designer was honored at the Style Awards with Stylist of the Year. On the carpet, Zoe rubbed her baby bump as she posed in her in strapless, black-beaded empire-waist gown, a noticeable difference from her usual boho-glam look.
Once on the stage, Zoe told the crowd that her friend, designer, and former Coach creative director Reed Krakoff made her emotional when he presented her with the Tiffany & Company award. “Wow, I just got really emotional,” she said. “It might be the pregnancy, but I just got really emotional. Reed, I want to thank you so much. He’s one of my heroes and if I can be half of Reed and what he’s accomplished, I will be really, really happy.”
A one point, Zoe stopped following the teleprompter—the first of a few to do so—and said that she would like to speak freely for a moment. “Styling was something that I started when I was about 8-years-old,” she explained. “I didn’t know it was styling. I just thought that I was helping people get dressed because I didn’t like what they were wearing. I didn’t in any life think I could make a career out of that, and many of you in this room tonight are stylists, fashion editors, genius photographers, hairstylists, everything, and we all work together to create an image, a beautiful photograph that hopefully is a piece of history, or just that you’re just really excited to look at all the time.”
“I set out to do styling in every facet of my career, in every way that I possibly can,” Zoe continued. “I use it everyday in everything that I do. Being a stylist has defined a lot of who I am, a lot of my business. I can’t do it without my incredible team at Rachel Zoe Inc. My team makes it possible to be a mom and a wife and work full time. I couldn’t do it all without them.”
We’ll say pregnancy and the workload looks good on Rachel. Congrats!
