THE PARTY: Ray-Ban Debuts “District 1937” with Blondie and MS MR

THE PLACE: SIR Stage 37

THE DEETS: Fashion editors, friends of Ray-Ban, and celebrities alike gathered at SIR Stage 37 for a one-night-only event to celebrate the launch of Ray-Ban’s District 1937. Earlier in the evening, the music venue was transformed into a factory workshop with interactive art installations that featured the eye brand’s innovative new materials collection: leather, denim, steel, titanium, and velvet. Contemporary artists and designers showcased artwork created from the materials—ranging from Anne Lilly’s kinetic steel sculptures to Ian Berry/Denimu’s denim masterpieces. These new materials will be incorporated for the first time into some of the brand’s most recognizable styles including the iconic Wayfarer.

The party really got started when alternative-rock duo MS MR took the stage performing a number of their singles. The highlight of the evening was an exclusive live performance by Blondie—the legendary Debbie Harry rocked out on the Ray-Ban stage to adoring fans for a full set including her most famous hit, “Heart of Glass.”

Celebrities in attendance included Zoe Kravitz, Coco Rocha, Ireland Baldwin, Chromeo, Katharine McPhee, Zosia Mamet, George Kotsiopoulos, and Mia Moretti. The VIPs were invited to the Ray-Ban Remix Lounge, where they were able to customize their own bespoke pair of sunglasses.
