For her spring 2014 collection, it was all about charcoal, kohl defined eyes. A year ago, models got edgy with black winged liner. From runway show to runway show over the past few seasons, Rebecca Taylor has consistently had her team create multiple makeup looks that puts the prominence on her models’ peepers, keeping lips and cheeks nude and understated.
“A lip looks beautiful and I think it’s important at the moment,” explained Taylor of the turnaround. “I’m such a beauty junkie. I’m really into these amazing matte lip stains. Everyone has a version of it and that’s what we wanted to show them.”
Even Taylor, herself, has her own take on the trend. “I have this one by Bite that’s Cashmere Lipcream and it’s incredible. And definitely bare eyes on top. But I have blonde eyelashes. So I tint them so I don’t have to wear mascara.”
We agree that the look is definitely one to try, make sure to line those lips before. Feathered and smudged stains around your mouth defeats the purpose of a chic, bold pout.
