Unlimited has never sounded–or rather, looked–so good. Rent the Runway, provider of designer dresses many of us normally couldn’t afford and savior of our #OOTD at galas, parties and more, has launched an accessories subscription service aptly named Unlimited.
Not unlike the Netflix queue and delivery method, Rent the Runway Unlimited allows subscribers to receive three designer accessories, which they can keep for as long as they like, for a monthly fee of $75. Upon return, Rent the Runway sends another item in the subscriber’s queue, and the whole process repeats. Having added 75 designers just for this service, Unlimited boasts a wide array of items from some seriously covetable brands like Balenciaga, Elizabeth and James, and Clare Vivier. Even better, the $75 fee includes insurance in case you’re a bit rough with your things, although it doesn’t cover lost items or serious damage.
Cofounder and CEO of Rent the Runway, Jennifer Hyman, told WWD that she looks to target the “mass-market customer [who] will buy something disposable” and take them “out of fast fashion.” For an affordable monthly fee, the service allows customers to incorporate designer fashion into their wardrobes instead of buying trendy items from affordable retailers, only to throw them away a season later. Hyman claims, “This business is here to save designer fashion. [We have to] stop this addiction that we’ve had to disposable junk over the last 15 years.”
Rent the Runway Unlimited gives everyone a chance to sport that Helmut Lang handbag or those DANNIJO earrings without breaking the bank. Needless to say, this service will be claiming a special spot in our hearts.
