Ricky’s has been an institution in the New York beauty scene for years, but now he wants to come home with you.
The retailer is branching into body care with help from Nest Fragrances to craft candles, a multi-purpose mist called Hair, There, and Everywhere, and soap on a rope in five scents well known to Big Apple residents. “It’s playing with bath and body in a way that it’s with a wink,” Lorne Lucree, director of product development, told Women’s Wear Daily. “It’s all about insider New York moments in a humorous, fun, Ricky’s way.”
All of the cheeky scents tap into a New Yorker’s everyday life, including Drunk Brunch with fruity notes, sandalwood, sweet violet, and white musk to mimic the delectable drink specials available; Walk of Shame that evokes a fresh early morning walk in Manhattan with notes of sparkling lemon, watery jasmine, sheer musk, and lily of the valley; Banker Husband (don’t we all want one?!) is a classic man-just-out-of-the-shower aroma of cardamom, lemon drop, fir needle, rosewood, and oakmoss; Taco Tuesday is a sweeter take on the spicy special with notes of coconut, tangerine, cumin, and red pepper; and the smokiness of Street Meat, thanks to the aromas of whiskey, charcoal, outdoor leather, halal spices, and cedarwood – no food needed.
If your friends from out of town want a whiff of the city, these beauty trinkets are an amazing way to give them the real scent of the Big Apple. But as for the Banker Husband candle, is it a case of “if you light it, they will come?” I hope so!
