Rihanna became reflective when crafting her newest scent, Rouge, which will hit stores in September.
“People are always changing and evolving and with Rogue I wanted to switch it up to reflect who I am today,” the Unapologetic songstress explained to Women’s Wear Daily. “I made it for all women, for every mood, because we all want to project our true selves.”
The “flirty, sensual oriental” sought to express the wearer’s true self with notes of lemon blossom, cyclamen, jasmine, rose, plum and suede over a musky base of woods, patchouli, vanilla and amber. In contrast to the sweet scent, the bottle featured inverted spikes at the base with badass accessories like a stingray clutch, stingray leather zip-around bag, studded bracelets as gifts with purchase.
The play between sweet, sultry, and reflective came together in the campaign. Rihanna’s contemplative expression was captured by Mario Sorrenti, who previously shot Mila Kunis‘ Gemfields campaign, and styled by the new 032c fashion director Mel Ottenberg (she must be so proud of him!).
