Crystalactite fuses crystal and matte, white resin together to form a single smooth block that the crystal authority cut into stalactite shapes that fit perfectly with the fashion house’s signature aesthetic. “To me, these pieces are real works of art, and it certainly is a breakthrough for us in terms of our product development,” Nadja Swarovski, member of the Swarovski executive Board, told Women’s Wear Daily. “A lot of people see us as a crystal manufacturer, which is true, but actually our strength is in master cutting.”
The pieces from the high-end collection were recently featured in the Maison Martin Margiela couture show, which will be priced between $1,025 and $1,285 when it’s released in November. There will also be a more wallet-friendly three-piece collection at half the price at select Atelier Swarovski and Maison Martin Margiela stores. After collaborations with Christopher Kane and Marios Schwab, the first co-branded product collections with a fashion label with plans for a wider commercial range slated for Spring 2014 in the works as well.
