Design partners and sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy, more formally known as Rodarte, will be honored with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Legend of Fashion award, Women’s Wear Daily reported.
The sisters will pick up their prize at the school’s gala, The Walk on May 3rd which is an annual benefit that supports the production of student work and scholarships. The program boasts of alumni like Halston and Cynthia Rowley who took home the award last year with her husband, art connoisseur Bill Powers took home the award.
“This year, it is a special privilege to honor both Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte, who like many of these students began their creative explorations at such a young age,” said SAIC president Walter E. Massey in a press release.
The California girls were humbled to receive the award. “We are truly honored to be receiving the Legend of Fashion award from SAIC’s distinguished Fashion Design program,” the Mulleavy sisters said. Congrats all around to the ladies!
