Simon Doonan Says “TRICK or TREND”

Simon Doonan, the Creative Director of Barneys, has created a fabulously affordable Costume Couture collection for Target. The cheap-and-chic line is full of kitschy-cool pieces that will have every trick-or-treating fashionista looking trendy. Here, Doonan shares his top five tips for a happy and stylish Halloween.

WAKE UP YOUR MAKE UP!
Halloween is a great time to try out some kooky make-up ideas. Never worn fake eyelashes? Halloween is the perfect time to glue on a pair of lustrous showgirl numbers. Its dark outside so nobody will know if they are a little crooked.

STYLE YOUR BRAINS OUT!
If you buy a ready-made costume (like the gorgeous and affordable ones I designed for Target) then feel free to embellish and adapt. Trim the hem of your Glamour Ghost to show off those fabulous legs. Embellish your Pumpkin Punk Rocker with additional chains and safety pins.

DOUBLE UP!
Find a partner in crime to wear a complimentary costume. I did a few for my collection Costume
Couture by Simon Doonan for Target.  So if you are the A-List Celebrity, make sure you have a good-looking Paparazzi in tow.

CELEBRATE YOUR SIBLINGS.
Don’t ignore your little sister! It’s not just about you, you know! Buy her a Candace Corn costume and help her with her orange and white make-up. Remember when you were her age and needed a little encouragement?

WORK THE RUNWAY.
Set up an improvised runway on your street. All you need is a boom box and a couple of traffic cones and you have the makings of a great fashion show.
