First things first. If I’m going to forgo proper sleep and nutrition during Fashion Week, I’m not going to look like it. I protect myself from post-Nika chill with La Prairie moisturizer, conceal my insomnia-induced dark circles with Nars, and go nude with my new, favorite lippy, Pout by Marc Jacobs Beauty. Of course, this requires Beyoncé’s all-seeing eye.
Why must I seek Queen Bey’s approval? Yoncé is expected at Michael Costello’s Fall 2014 show tonight. She famously wore one of his creations while “Drunk In Love” at the Grammys. So, it’s only right that if she graces NYFW with her presence, that she do so tonight.
Next up, the outfit. I keep it chic in Tibi from top-to-toe and update my note-taking game with this festive journal from Costello Tagliapietra. It’s pink and green—a favorite color combo due to a certain sorority affiliation.
Finally reporting for duty backstage at Lincoln Center for Hervé Léger. After Max and Lubov Azria shared their strikingly different definitions of sexy, the latter struck a pose with Petra Nemcova and Coco Rocha. Both supermodels were clad in Hervé, of course.
One trailer over, at The Salon at Lincoln Center, I chat with this colorful designer, who, judging from her henna, Pamela Love rings, and neck piece, is way more rad than anyone you know. Only Mara Hoffman could pull this off...
… and make me swap out summer ombré aspirations for gold, spray-painted strands.
It’s time to switch up the scenery—and my lip color. While taxiing down to Eyebeam Art+Technology Center for Lovely in Vivacious Red, $6.99 at Christian Siriano Fall 2014, I swap out my neutral lip for this violet one. Hey, a girl’s got to have options.
I spy June Ambrose front row at Siriano with her adorable daughter Summer; I decide that if I end fashion week without an equally-as-fabulous head piece, I will not have done the season justice.
After Siriano served Lisa Fonssagrives realness, I was off to Milk Studios where Made Fashion Week rules the runway, and Jonathan Simkhai models wake up like this...
Or, just sit through hair and make up for the aforementioned sexy smolder.
While eyeing Simkhai’s luxurious skins, I flashback to this moment, just yesterday on the second floor of Milk Studios. Kelly Rowland was front row at Cushnie et Ochs and my friend, Asha, managed to snag this shot. Aside from wondering what’s in her beauty bag, it serves as evidence that I’m closer to Beyoncé than ever.
Except, she doesn’t show up to Michael Costello’s fall debut. Her stylist, Ty Hunter, does though—along with half of the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Close, but no cigar.
