For Alice + Olivia’s Spring ode to Americana, Perfect Formula customized a polish called Ice Box, a minty hue synonymous with the fridges that filled the homes of Levittowns across the nation in the late 1950s. Two coats of the shade were perfect for the prints and pastels featured heavily in the collection fit for a lady about town.
With a treasure hunting father and affinity for the ocean, Joy Cioci presented a slew of bathing beauties for her spring 2013 Collection. CND crafted a manicure that mimicked the bubble formed underwater by applying a clear topcoat and dipping into a flat bowl filled with microbeads and small pearls for a dimensional, textured look that mermaids and magpies will adore.
With a mix of music and nature serving as her inspiration, Mandy Coon sent down a series of sultry silky spring staples. To emphasize her complex and romantic collection, she turned to Priti NYC who curated contrasting nail lacquers in White Ballet Dahlia for a leather look, Queen of the Night Tulip for some of the satin ensembles, and Blue Sage for a neutral outfit are sure to snag a few stares.
Naeem Khan revived the late Wallis Simpson in his globetrotting glamorous Spring collection. To recreate the look of the departed Duchess, the lips and tips had a matching hue thanks to Dashing Diva’s Patricia Yankee. The celebrity manicurist pressed the brand’s upcoming ColorFX half-moon appliqués with a gel base and topcoat to seal it in for a look any vintage vixen would love.
We saw stars backstage at Nicole Miller as soon as we spotted the manicure the models would sport on the runway. With a custom layer of mint underneath, CND’s Candice Manacchio sponged the brand’s Sapphire Sparkle Effect, CND Colour in Studio White, plus a pink shade from its new Spring line. She crafted a diamond to close the galaxy in with CND Colour in Blackjack for tips that were out of this world!
Bronzed and beachy was the name of the game at Rebecca Taylor. The designer paired her breezy and casual looks with a luxe lacquer from MAC. Marian Newman pulled the brand’s polish in Screaming Brightly to provide a hardware-like punch to the comfy collection. A mighty metallic like this will easily add an edge to any spring ensemble.
The indomitable duo, The Blonds, took a bite out of the typical beach-themed manicure with elaborately luxe looks from Kristina Estabrooks. Red caviar drew line through CND Colour in Blackjack while sharks nibbled off corners of nails in Cream Washed. Crushed pink coral, skinny dip blue, and golden sands made their mark as well. With polished points like these, it may be safer to stay out of the water.
Inspired by David Hockney’s breathtaking landscapes and vibrant hues, Reese aimed for geometric moon manis, courtesy of Sally Hansen. The beauty brand created exclusive shades reflecting the collection, and whether it was a combo of Butterscotch and Hot Lava, Soy Latte and Jet Black, and more, our eyes were hooked!
There were no ordinary nudes at Zac Posen! The designer worked with Essie to customize nude manicures based on all of the models’ skin tones in A Crewed Interest, Not Just a Pretty Face, Brooch the Subject, and Glamour Purse. Each nail shade helped to elongate the arms of Posen’s sultry sirens as they strutted the catwalk.
From the muted tones of military green and mint, to the off-color cuts of the wigs, we knew the nails weren’t meant to be ordinary. Manicurist extraordinaire Jin Soon Choi debuted her eponymous line of polishes for the Spring collection. With a layer of Muse, a pink nude, under a layer of Auspicious, a gray lavender, this muted mani will be one many will replicate.
Nail art shows now signs of slowing down as designers sent models down the runway with dazzling digits. Round up your polish collections and see how you can snag these Spring 2013 looks!Read More ↓
