Sparkling in Monique Lhuillier: Michelle Obama’s White House Correspondents Dinner Dress!

By  April 29, 2013

When President Barack Obama took the stage at the White House Correspondents Dinner, aka “nerd prom,” on Saturday evening, his wife, Michelle looked on wearing Monique Lhuillier. She wore a black fitted chiffon goddess-like gown with a high neckline in delicate Chantilly lace with jet black stones that were intricately beaded, cascading around her neckline and shoulders. It was hard not to notice that her shoulders literally sparkled as the First Lady laughed at her husband’s jokes—he touched on everything from Michelle’s bangs to the Birther Issue, delivered with perfect comedic timing. To compliment her gown, Mrs. Obama swept her hair into a formal updo but kept her bangs front and center. She opted for a smoky eye to match her gown, which was very appropriate considering the crowd: celebrities, politicians and journalists, all dressed in their best as they descended upon Washington for the party.

This year’s look is definitely more glamorous then last year when Michelle opted to wear a multi-colored Naeem Kham strapless print dress and in 2011, she wore a mauve-colored sleeveless dress.
