Spring Trend Alert: Shants

There’s a new separate wandering around on the runways this season that’s worth taking note of: Sheer Pants, or, as I’ve taken to calling them, Shants. It makes sense that at the tail end of the legging trend (Editor’s Note: Please, please stop wearing them if you’re over the age of 14.) there’s a new gam-covering style on the rise. The see-through separate–spotted at Prada, Costume National, among others–works with spring’s pajama-party look as well as the ‘80s trend, but the jury’s still out if these will work for normal women (will something that emphasizes rather than streamline the leg really flatter everyone?) or if they’ll just be a fantastic accoutrement for magazine shoots and adventurous red-carpet types.
