Star Scoop: Amber Tamblyn Heads to Broadway, Lenny Kravitz to Star in Marvin Gaye Biopic, Scarlett Johansson The Weather Girl

Amber Tamblyn of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and House fame is setting her sights on Broadway. The 29-year-old actress will make her debut on the Great White Way next spring, starring in The Miss Firecracker Contest, by playwright Beth Henley. The play, which tells the story of a girl looking to reclaim her glory by winning her town’s talent contest, debuted in 1984 and was adapted for screen in 1989. [Yahoo News]

Lenny Kravitz has some major shoes to fill. The “Fly Away” rocker will take on his first lead role, starring in the Jullen Temple-directed, Marvin Gaye biopic. The still-untitled project will focus on Gaye’s stay in Europe in the 1980s and his attempts at sobriety. Unlike other alleged Gaye projects, this Kravitz-led film has attained the rights to the late soul singer’s music archives. [Complex]
