Star Scoop: ‘Gone Girl’ Gets Her Man, Sam Mendes Won’t Stop at ‘Skyfall,’ Adam Lambert Gets GLEE-ful

Last summer’s best beach read, Gone Girl, could be mark Ben Affleck‘s next big gig. The Argo director is eyeing the lead role in David Fincher‘s adaptation of the best-selling book, based on the novel (and subsequent screenplay) from author Gillian Flynn. [The Hollywood Reporter]

You had us fooled Sam Mendes! The Skyfall director said he wouldn’t be returning to helm 007′s 24th adventure back in March. That turned into a maybe by May, but now, we can officially profess that Mendes is Bond’s best man. After the billion-dollar success of Skyfall, Mendes will direct Bond 24 (tentative title). The project will see Daniel Craig reprise his agent affair when it lands in theaters on November 6, 2015. [MTV]

When Glee returns for its fifth season, it’ll have a new face: Adam Lambert. The American Idol alum will be checking in to McKinley High this September, news that show creator Ryan Murphy used Twitter to share. “I am thrilled to announce that the super talented Adam Lambert is joining the cast of Glee this fall,” he shared. “I’m excited,” Lambert replied. [CNN]

Got $5 to spare? Today, Comedy Central launched CC: Stand Up Direct where consumers can purchase original, one-hour comedy routines from the likes of Daniel ToshChris Hardwick, and Nick Kroll. The direct-to-consumer model was first employed by Louis C.K. in December 2011 for Live at the Beacon Theater, which made $1 million in less than two weeks. In order for the program’s 22 acts to emulate that success, Erik Flannigan, an exec at Comedy Central parent company Viacom, says comedians have to assume some marketing responsibility. “Of course, we’re still counting on every comedian to activate their fanbase and tell them that their special is available,” he said. [Variety]

He won’t be returning to Gotham, but Christian Bale has been staying busy. His new thriller, Out of the Furnace, will debut in theaters on October 4 and we’ve finally got a trailer for the Scott Cooper creation.
