Starbucks Strives to Wake Up the Job Industry
By Valis Vicenty
November 02, 2011
Starbucks is giving the job market a jolt — and we’re not talking about your morning cup of joe. The coffee chain on the corner has partnered with Opportunity Finance Network to help small businesses create and retain jobs by donating the first $5 million to seed the project. Customers who donate $5 or more to the organization will receive a red, white and blue bracelet inscribed with the word “Indivisible” to serve as a symbol of Americans uniting to create jobs. Starbucks has pledged to give 100 percent of the proceeds to the organization. The Opportunity Finance Network is the leading network of community lending institutions that invest in underserved community businesses with loans and various financing throughout the country. A cup of coffee and a contribution can go far to get Americans back to work. For more information or to donate, please visit CreateJobsforUSA.org.
