Pamela Love entered the Council of Fashion Designers of America/Vogue Fashion Fund and Kate Spade’s contest offering a grand prize that included a full-page ad in Vogue’s bible of a September issue. She went up against Joseph Altuzarra, Albertus Swanepoel, Cushnie et Ochs and Robert Geller… and lost.
But won something better: the chance to allow customers into her world.
“Pamela created a whole world in illustration that cleverly captures the personality of her brand and had enough depth to become an ongoing seasonal campaign.” KCD president Ed Filipowski told Women’s Wear Daily. “I wouldn’t take no for an answer. It was too good not to come to life.”
Her vision came to life in the form of an interactive illustration of a “well-accessorized woman sitting in front of a world map pointing at a globe with her eyes closed,” which customers can shop by clicking the baubles as the globe rotates. The reality became an illustration turned e-commerce venture on Barneys.com with an outdoor campaign that includes “wild postings” taking place across New York City.
Thank you, Pamela, for inviting us into your world.
