• Wear perfume. The sexiest French girls wear perfume every day. If you are feeling unattractive that day, smelling good can do wonders for your ego. If you are feeling great, wear it anyway. There is nothing as fabulous as knowing that you smell good.

  • Believe that you are beautiful. During my time in France, I was amazed at how ordinary French girls could exude confidence and sexiness. They didn't have to have a perfect figure or great skin, but they played up their strong points and believed that they were beautiful. And it made them look beautiful and sexy.

  • Scheduled exercise isn't necessary for most French people. They walk just about everywhere; most buildings don't have elevators (I discovered that firsthand when I had to carry my baby and stroller up four flights of stairs to our apartment every day). You may not have to walk to work, but try to fit some walking or exercise in every day. Bonus points if you can do it as part of an errand.

  • Drink a large glass of water first thing in the morning. Many French women start with a glass of water to keep their skin clear.

  • Tone down the makeup. During my time in France, I saw only a handful of French girls wearing a lot of makeup. I almost never saw eyeliner or eye shadow (but almost everyone wears mascara). Most women, even older women, looked very natural. It helped emphasize their natural beauty, and they were prettier for it.

  • Eat only at mealtimes. Many of the Metro stations in France have vending machines, just like in other countries, but in my entire stay in France, I only saw one person buy anything out of there and eat it on the train platform. Most people never eat between meals. This way, they are hungry when mealtime comes, and they skip all the snacking calories. It is a great way to keep a trim figure.

  • Wear comfortable shoes. French women do a lot of walking, and you will rarely see them wearing very high heels. In a country of cobblestones, heels and stilettos are not practical. Live like the French and invest in some attractive but comfortable shoes. Your feet will thank you for it.

  • According to Inès de La Fressange (a French model), women in France buy things to feel nice (she speaks specifically of clothing here). I think many French women's habits are to make themselves feel good: great beauty routines, drinking lots of water, wearing comfortable shoes. At the end of the day, they are better at knowing when to say yes and when to say no. An important lesson for us all.
