Style Scoop: Chiara Mastroianni Faces Fendi, Barbie Gets Trina Turk Treatment, J. Crew Heads to Brooklyn

If you don’t know Chiara Mastroianni, it’s time to brush up on your French because the Paris native is lending her face to Fendi. Best known for her roles in La Lettre, Americano opposite Salma Hayek, and Cannes Film Festival debut The Bastards, Mastroianni will front the Italian house’s new scent, which will be unveiled this September. We wonder if label head Karl Lagerfeld will lens her campaign?! [WWD]

Trina Turk gave an American classic a new look for summer. Malibu Barbie has been fashioned in the designer’s namesake line, replete with a printed bikini, lace cover-up, beach tote, cocktail ring, and hat to block out the rays. What’s best is that fans of Turk—and Barbie—can buy similar pieces from the designer’s Malibu Summer for their own closets. Just expect to shell out more than the $50 price tag that comes with the new (and improved) plastic icon. [L.A. Times]

If spreading love is the Brooklyn way, then the borough’s new message will be wrapped in a bow(tie). J. Crew has signed a 10-year lease in Cobble Hill, near the Barney’s Co-Op and Urban Outfitters. Expect a style war between preps and hipsters to ensue. [Racked]

Speaking of firsts, Topshop is setting up shop in China. The high street company is foraying into Hong Kong with a 14,000 square-foot flagship that will open this Thursday. So far, Topshop has 137 locations in 37 countries… and counting. [Express]

It-girl Alexa Chung is giving us a peek inside her new campaign with L’Oreal as the first ambassador for its INOA hair color line. Collaboration nation just welcomed its latest import: TOMS x Jonathan Adler. The charitable chaussures company and colorful ceramics connoisseur teamed up for a trio of patriotic sunnies that allege to “make you look smarter,” as etched on the inside of the frames. We won’t fault you if the name Sky Ferreira doesn’t ring a bell—even if she vaunted one of the best songs of 2012 according to Pitchfork, The Guardian, New York Magazine, and Spin. But if you frequent ASOS as much as we do, you’re due to get familiar with the 20-year-old California girl. Ferreira joins the ranks of Rita Ora and Lena Dunham as the ASOS Magazine cover girl for its July 2013 cover. Blake Lively and Evan Rachel Wood are very Gucci girls, fronting the house’s Gucci Première and Gucci Guilty fragrances, respectively. But could they be serving face as the brand’s makeup ambassadors? Maybe. The Frida Giannini label could be entering the makeup game much like Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs. The brand partnered with Procter & Gamble’s Prestige division in 2006 for its fragrance empire, so it was only a matter of time before they locked lips with a makeup deal, that WWD said could arrive as early as 2014. Haider Ackermann and Ann Demeulemeester are calling it quits. The two brands, which were both under Belgian parent company BVBA 32, have left the investor and will now operate as individual entities. “[Haider Ackermann] has fully matured over the years, becoming a fully stable and independent business on its own,” BVBA 32 investor Anne Chapelle told WWD. “This is a question of internal optimisation, enabling both brands full freedom to grow.” [Vogue UK]
