Style Scoop: J.W. Anderson’s Versus Debut, Nicole Richie Raves on First-Date Wear, MAC Pursues Punk

We revealed plans for Versus to get sporty earlier this week with its second designer collaboration, but today, it’s all about the Donatella Versace brand’s one-off capsule with J.W. Anderson. The Emerging Talent winner from last year’s British Fashion Awards has finally revealed his androgynous designs for the Italian label, featuring lace backs and body-con silhouettes for women and men. “Unisex is the most modern thing that a lot of people do not touch on,” Anderson told WWD. “The whole collection has to feel jarred….I think there’s a sharpness of the bridging of the [male and female]. When something is ugly and wrong, I feel that it’s right.” Versus Versace J.W. Anderson will be available online and in stores a month from today. [WWD]

First-date jitters? Nicole Richie to the rescue! The House of Harlow head teamed up with AOL for a web series entitled Candidly Nicole. In her first episode, Richie tackles the age-old issue of dressing for your girlfriends versus dressing for a guy, especially when it comes to that crucial first night out.  [Glamour]

The Met Gala—and Gwyneth Paltrow‘s blunt dig—may be old news by now, but MAC Cosmetics is hanging on to the punk way of life with a rebellious new collection. We’re still working on that whole “AllSaints for my Angel” archive that Jay-Z rhymed about in “Suit & Tie,” but at least the luxe label is giving us something to feast our eyes on in the meantime. The British brand is introducing fans to its film division with a documentary following Kings of Leon during their SXSW set. Royal fashion from centuries past is the main attraction at Buckingham Palace these days. The Queen’s Gallery is now home to In Fine Style: The Art of Tudor and Stuart Fashion, an exhibit that highlights style from the elite during the 16th and 17th centuries. “This is the first exhibition in England that focuses on fashion in portraiture,” said exhibit curator Anna Reynolds. “It demonstrates how clothing reveals information about the wearer and about the attitudes and values of the society at the time.” [WWD]
