Style Scoop: Magnus Berger Joins WSJ, Kelly Osbourne for Lifestyle Mirror, Pirelli Nabs Karlie Kloss and More for 2013 Calendar

Meet Magnus Berger, the dapper gent who WSJ. editor-in-chief Kristina O’Neill has appointed creative director of the fashion, design, and business periodical. Berger, one-half of creative agency Berger & Wild and The Last Magazine, is expected to bring a “downtown” vibe to the fiscal-based WSJ., as seen in his work for Alexander Wang, Helmut Lang, and Givenchy. While online shopping may be a major part of any fashionista’s aim to have the newest trends now, it can be a drag when that designer dress turns out not to fit like you expected. But scholars at the London College of Fashion and the University of Surrey are working to change that. They’ve produced a scanner with Bodymetrics that takes an online shopper’s height and full-length body image to produce a 3-D image that will help shoppers determine their best fit. Are you waiting for the Pirelli Calendar 2013? Good, because we are too! This year’s edition, shot in Rio de Janeiro, differs from previous years, because instead of using a fashion photographer to lens the project, Pirelli opted for Steve McCurry. He’s the award-winning photographer behind this iconic “Afghan Girl” cover for National Geographic in 1972. McCurry captured Liya Kebede, Karlie Kloss, and a pregnant Adriana Lima for the 2013 “Cal,” among shots of still and street life in the Brazilian city. [GlamChic]
