Style Sequins: Business on Top, Party on the Bottom

By  November 19, 2012

Sequins are indeed making a comeback. No, not just for the Vegas showgirl, silly; it’s a hot look for anyone, everywhere this holiday season. We confirmed the trend and dropped the 101 on how to rock it here, but now we’re keen to try a new sequin inspired style. While sparkling tops and blazers with glitzy accents are foolproof ways to incorporate sequins into your wardrobe, donning them on your lower half is especially daring.

For your next party, check out She Finds’ favorite sequined mini skirts here, each boasting a gorgeous patterns, intricate print, and fun shades. To dress it down add a pair of opaque tights, booties, and keep the top understated. For a fabulous night out, however, take a page from street fashionista, Jessy Cameron, via Sydney Street Fashion’s style book and  get a little glam. We love how Jessy fearlessly strutted stilettos, boasted a trifecta of polka dots, sequins, and silk, and perfectly put together the proportions of a short skirt, thigh length blazer, and floor long train.

If naked legs aren’t your thing, try a maxi sequined skirt, like the Roberto Cavalli one Dakota Fanning wore on the cover of December’s InStyle UK. For trouser lovers, Free People has a whole host of sequin party pants in different colors and styles. Glitter and Pearls exclaims, that her “life is complete,” after browsing the collection, and one look at those skinny Contempo Sequin Pants and yours will be too.

According to First Class Fashionista, sequined skirts and pants can even be day time go-tos so long as you “make sure you look for a cut that is work appropriate.” Keep the color and styling more subtle than you would for evening by sticking to neutrals and layering over the sequined bottom wear with heavier, muted materials.
