It’s that time of year again, the sun is out, you’ve got your shorts and flip flops on and you’re spending time with friends. Summer is heating up and so are dozens of concerts all around the country. As much as I love jamming out to my favorite songs while driving, there truly is nothing better than live music. With that said, here’s some concerts you won’t want to miss this summer!
Beyonce “Mrs. Carter” World Tour: Beyonce is back and better than ever in 2013. The former Ms. Knowles media saturation has reached a new level in the past year or so, what with her Super Bowl appearance; the birth of her first child, Blue Ivy; the premiere of her HBO documentary, Life Is but a Dream; and the launch of her latest world tour, the Mrs. Carter Show.
Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z “Legends of the Summer” Tour: Justin Timberlake has come back in a big way this year, and rapping right alongside of him is HOVA himself. Audiences got a taste of the chemistry between Timberlake and Jay-Z at this year’s Grammy Awards, when the duo unveiled “Suit & Tie”. After Justin finishes up his Legends of the Summer Tour with Jay-Z, he will embark on a solo tour in support of his latest album, The 20/20 Experience.
One Direction “2013 Tour”: If Justin Bieber were British and cloned five times, you would have One Direction. English-Irish pop boy band One Direction propelled to international success after finishing third in the UK X Factor Season 7 and releasing smash hits “What Makes You Beautiful” and “Live While Were Young.”
Bruno Mars “Moonshine Jungle” Tour: This singing sensation burst onto the music scene this year with the hit “Locked Out of Heaven,” and is seemingly unstoppable. Judging by his performance with Sting at the Grammys, he knows how to win over a crowd. The 27-year-old hit the road this summer for the “Moonshine Jungle” tour, and will be accompanied by Fitz & the Tantrums and Ellie Goulding for select dates.
Backstreet Boys “In A World Like This” Tour: Critics wrote them off in the ’90s. But they kept having hits. Even Rolling Stone had to give props to “I Want It That Way” as the killer, catchy pop masterpiece that it is. Now they’re older, wiser and still dancing in unison like the Temptations. I’m going. You going?
Cyndi Lauper “She’s So Unusual” Tour: Fresh off of her Tony Award-win for her first musical, Kinky Boots, Lauper celebrates the 30th anniversary of her debut album with the “She’s So Unusual” tour. Her songs and talent are timeless. Cyndi has sold more than 50 million records worldwide, released 40-plus singles, and fights as a tireless advocate for LGBT equality.
