Before the latest British Invasion hits American (& Canadian) soil in the form of designs by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, Glam enjoyed the chance to chat with the designers. Fresh from a vacation in Sri Lanka, which undoubtedly influenced their swimsuit pieces, the designers were thrilled to toast to their latest endeavor.
“When Target approached us, it was important for us to do something else, than what we usually do,” explained De Vos. “Rather than just going through our archives and repeating something, we want to try something new and different that’s signature at the same time,’ added Pilotto.
Known for their penchant for mixing prints and bold colors, the designers successfully brought their aesthetic to separates, dresses, swimsuits, and accessories. While they hadn’t yet broached the idea of swimwear in their own line, it was the perfect time to test the water. ”The possibility of doing swimwear was just so exciting,” said De Vos. And we promise, it’s just as exciting, if not more for the girls who will be lucky enough to scoop up a suit or two!
Though Pilotto and De Vos have only been to Target a handful of times given the fact their hometown is devoid of a store, they immediately called to mind the first thing they ever bought at the store – a pair of flip flops. Quite fitting for the future collaboration, no?
