Talking Project Runway and Designing for Every Woman with Michelle Franklin

By  March 27, 2013

To celebrate her winning design for the Lord & Taylor challenge on Project Runway, Michelle Franklin hosted editors and bloggers for a morning breakfast, showing off her creation on manequins, racks and herself. As part of her win, Franklin’s design was produced by the department store and will be sold for $259 at select Lord & Taylor stores and online. “I’m in stores back home, but not [with] 200 of [my dresses] being made! My face is like hanging off the hangtag which is weird!” said Franklin of the surreal moment.

The designer describes her winning dress and style as accommodating the every woman, and proves it in her versatility. “Right now it’s like 30 degrees so I’m doing a boot and opaque tight, but I think in the sumer I could see it with a dainty white sock and a strappy sandle or just a sandle. I love it with a long necklace but I think it would look great with some bitching earrings. You can take it punk or sophisticated or to a wedding with a side of pearls.”

During her time on Project Runway, Franklin clearly has found success, but of all the moments with the show, it’s the relationships she treasures most. “I made some of the best friends in life.”
