Tory Burch: Resort 2014

By  May 29, 2013

Designer: Tory Burch

Inspiration: A visit to North Africa. In her blog, Burch wrote of her trip, “A friend once said to always look up when you’re in Marrakech — from the minarets to the doorways, you will see something remarkable. It’s true.” It seemed to be such things specifically, the architecture and the culture around her, that provided the influence for her pieces.

Trends: There’s a rich bohemian vibe behind this beach-ready collection. Preppy paisley prints, tailored trousers to be worn by the shore, and tweed pencil skirts are juxtaposed with free spirited embellishment consisting of wood pieces, yarn toggles, and straw fringe. Ethnic medallion detailing on tunic tops as well as on the necklaces hanging from models necks, floppy hats scooped from an outdoor bazaar, and gem encrusted bags add to the artsy appeal. On trend for the season, Burch mixed up her collection with stylishly tailored separates, including both structured tops and short pairings as well as midi-skirts with matching blouses.

Palette: muted pink, orange, and gold florals, sandy beige and ivory, white lace overlay, sky blue and tangerine bird prints, navy and mint tweeds

Who Should Wear It: Adventure seekers and world travelers with a bold, feminine style. Ladies with a chic, tailored fashion sense that is balanced with bohemian flair. Kate Mara and Jessica Alba.
