Under the romantic lighting of black and white Chinese lanterns, art revelers and fashion insiders turned Skylight Soho into the destination of the evening on Wednesday for the Whitney Art Party, sponsored by Theory and Saks Fifth Avenue. An array of art pieces including a very special iteration of a Birkin bag (made out of wax) lined a portion of the venue for the silent auction, but it was an ominous coffin that drew the attention of many. Set for a later performance, guests would find out as the night went on that the contents were anything but dark. Following a musical set that had the entire party on their feet and dancing, Kalup Linzy pulled back the lid to reveal flowers and Jell-O.
Though the space was teeming with designers and notables including Charlotte Ronson, Yigal Azrouel, Thakoon, Michael Polish, and Sean Avery, it was one specific interaction that had Glam swooning. Later in the evening, Kate Bosworth joined in the fun, after many a conversation suggesting her imminent arrival. Shortly after making her way into the party, she was immediately greeted by the evening’s host, her good friend Olivier Theyskens. Giggles and flashbulbs abounded, while the pair quickly gushed their love for one another, proving once again that fashion, art, and celebrity really are the perfect trio.
