Comedy’s best friends are teaming up on another project, the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards! Yesterday it was announced that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will host the awards show set for January. Since their days in imrpov groups and SNL, the pair has teamed up in hits like Mean Girls and Baby Mama with Fey’s 30 Rock and Poehler’s Parks & Recreation sharing the same night of TV on NBC. The ladies replace Ricky Gervais, who had hosting duties for the past three years and drew criticisms for his jokes throughout his tenure. The announcement marks a turn in the audience draws as Seth MacFarlane was recently announced as the host of the upcoming Oscars. “Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year’s festivities is a major coup,” stated Paul Telegdy, President of Alternative and Late Night Programming at NBC Entertainment. “Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on SNL to their successful co-starring roles in Baby Mama.” This awards show season is already shaping up to be one to definitely tune into!
