Beyoncè walked in Tom Ford’s secret fashion show back in 2011, baby Blue Ivy owns a custom pair of his pink velvet heels, and now, Jay-Z confirmed that it’s all love between the Carter’s and the designer.
On Magna Carta Holy Grail, Jay-Z’s first solo album—Watch the Throne doesn’t count—in four years, he raps: “I don’t pop Molly(that you look up on Urban Dictionary), I rock Tom Ford,” on the second track of the album, titled, you guessed it, “Tom Ford.”
Women’s Wear Daily sought out the in-demand designer to get his thoughts on the track. “It’s kind of validation of one’s work, as it means that one has really penetrated and made an impact on popular culture,” Ford explained. “My favorite line is ‘I don’t pop Molly, I rock Tom Ford.’ I love that he gets a ‘high’ from my clothes.”
