After the show ended in 2002, Russell pursued a career in films. She starred in We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson, The Upside of Anger, and Mission Impossible III with Tom Cruise. Russell married Shane Deary on Valentine`s Day in 2007. She and her husband have one son together, River Russell Deary.
