Tory Burch was honored to pen an opinion piece for The Economist’s annual year-ahead issue. Titled, “Why the World Needs Women Entrepreneurs,” this was the designer’s first time contributing to a major print publication.
“I’ve admired The Economist for so long, and I really thought this was a topic that would make sense,” the designer with a newly launched beauty line told Women’s Wear Daily. “It’s really about the work we do.” The work, Burch is referring to is empowering women in the workplace, making writing the piece slightly easier. “I had a little help from my team,” she admitted.
The designer will join Matt Damon, Sir Richard Branson, chef Renè Redzepi, Virginia Rometty, chief executive officer of IBM Larry Fink, CEO of Black Rock, Ed Miliband, the leader of the British Labour Party, and Park Geunhye, the president of South Korea, who each contributed something for the issue out on newsstands this week.
Not bad for one of Forbes’ World’s 100 Most Powerful women, right?
