Cutout silhouettes and stilettos seemed to be the featured fashion on the spring/summer 2013 runway last fall, and at last it’s officially the designated season to bring the trend to life. Designers like Carven, Alexander Wang, and Diane von Furstenberg paraded peekaboo pieces on their models, and Balmain, Fendi, and Versace tried the slashed style on a number of different types of heels. But there are a few specific ways we like to copy their catwalk cutouts this summer: They’re the three B’s—booties, back, and below the bustline—and there’s an endless amount of articles in stores and online this season to help you get the look. Just a hint of skin showing on your upper midriff (much easier to pull off than full-on belly-displaying designs) or a partially bared back are two easy ways to wear cutout attire. The subtle skin-showing styles can be modified for more conservative events or donned for a night out too. As for the shoes, scissor-happy stilettos in the shape of last season’s booties are on our radar. They’re a fashion-forward alternative to regular-heel sandals—and super summer-appropriate too!
With so many style choices this season, selecting a trend that fits your look can be a daunting task. Luckily, U by Kotex® + GLAM have teamed up to put together their summer favorites for you. Get inspired, and remember, all you have to do next is try it for yourself!
