Turn Up The Tunes!

By  July 08, 2009

Today we have a whole bunch of new indie tunes hitting the charts. A couple of great bands played on talk-shows in NYC, and even more have released albums and singles.

Let’s start of with Bright Eyes lead singer Conor Oberst. He has now become Conor Oberst and the Mystic Valley Band. They played on the Fourth of July (for free!) near Battery Park. And then played live on Letterman. Check out the vid right here.

Next up is Death Cab for Cutie. They played live on Conan. Their new song “Little Bribes” is upbeat and epitomizes their great melodies and lyrics! Check it out here. They are also on tour at the moment! Unfortunately they only have a couple more venues they are playing. Here is the list:

07/11 – Berkeley, CA @ Greek Theatre
07/14 – Morrison, CO @ Red Rocks Amphitheatre
07/16 – Vancouver, British Columbia @ Pacific Coliseum
07/17 – Troutdale, Oregon @ Edgefield Amphitheatre
07/18 – Redmond, WA @ Marymoor Park

And then there is the Arctic Monkeys. They released their tour dates earlier, and now here take a listen to their new single “Crying Lightning.” It is very different from their old stuff. It is much more dark and less punk-ish. Also, take a look at their new video, “Can’t Stop Feeling.” It’s lots of fun, and also sorta strange!

Last but not least … the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s! From their new album It’s Blitz! comes a fun dance song, “Heads will Role.” Here is the video. With this awesome song, Passion Pit (an electronic band) remixed this song. Sounds great! Check it out here. And finally here is another version of the song. It is a remix by Weird Tapes.

So check em out and let us know what you think!
