Urban Outfitters is taking a big bite out of the Big Apple and the beauty industry with its newest outpost.

Their new Herald Square store, opened this week, not only houses a coffee shop and small bike shop from Brooklyn, but also its first beauty department. The alluring oasis boasts 1,500 square feet of glam goodies from smaller indie brands to a full on barber/hair salon called Hairroin (seriously). In addition, Urban Outfitters has become the U.S.’s biggest distributor of Korean beauty imports, adding about 10 brands every month says Women’s Wear Daily.

Fashionista noted the beauty boost might be just what the retailer needs to regain its footing in fashion. Urban Outfitters recently saw sales drop 12 percent in the first quarter of 2014 and has been working to improve its stock to align with current trends.

But with its array of eclectic enhancers, it’s bound to make waves. Laura Johnson, Urban Outiftter’s executive director of women’s apparel is excited for cosmetic junkies to get their hands on Korean beauty buys from Mizon and Holika Holika, music inspired lines like Ardency Inn and Lime Crime, and apothecary staples from Fig + Yarrow and Herbivore.
